A Driveway Alarm Decreases the Odds of Car Theft

A driveway alarm helps to protect your car and outdoor driveway area from would be thieves. Other than protecting your car, it also helps to prevent the driveway from being used as an access point to your home. One of the most used access point to your house by thieves is the driveway and it serve much sense to protect this area well.

The idea is to make this area very difficult to gain access to. When a criminal cannot reach the targeted object, there is simply no way for the item to be stolen. Similarly, if an object that is disturbed as it may be during an attempted break in, makes some sort of alert to let you know what is going on, this make theft less likely. With a driveway alarm you can be extra sure that no one is going to get in to your garage or driveway, not to mention home, without you noticing it.

Take the time to do some research on the different models of driveway alarms in order to determine the pros and cons of the various types and services. Every home and driveway have unique set ups and designs. If you don't take the time to consider which alarm system will best meet your needs, you may wind up having to replace the system shortly after you buy it. It's much better to take the time and effort to research and discover which alarms have worked the best for others.

Factors to consider when choosing a driveway alarm:

  • The maximum transmission distance of the transmitter. Big driveway will need transmitter with longer transmission distance as most likely the receiver is located far away.

  • The type of driveway alarm
-A hose that a car or other heavy vehicle may run over
-A magnetic probe that may be hidden and will only detect metallic vehicles
-A wireless beam that will detect cars as well as people and animals

  • Are there any trees between the location of the transmitter and receiver ? If so are the trees a dense forest or sparse or somewhere in between? The denser the forest the less the transmission distance.

  • The construction of your home - Is it a mobile home, does it have aluminum or steel siding, is it constructed of stucco, does it have paper backed insulation or foil insulation?

  • Are there transformers nearby - pad mounted or pole mounted may interfere with the transmission/reception of the signal
